I received an unexpected email last week. One of my own nominated me for an award! The Liebster Award. This award was created to help “Discover New Blogs.”
LiebsterThe Liebster Award is a way to give lesser known bloggers a boost and to help them gain readership. I know ya’ll can’t see my face but I am totally blushing. Me, an award? Thanks to Emily at www.tablelifeblog.com for the nomination! Please check our her site. She is a God loving, homeschooling mom, who is also an awesome blogger.
Accepting the nomination involves answering 11 questions about myself and this blog. So grab a drink and put your feet up. Here we go!
1. How did you decide on the title of your blog, and what is it about?
As my About Me states, I am a mom of growing kids. My hubby is TALL. 6’6″ in fact. I know my kids will be tall too, but NEVER EVER will I ride in the back seat while they are sitting up front. I am there mom and they will offer me that respect. I will ALWAYS have the front seat! My blog is about living life with tweens and teens. I feel that this is a niche that doesn’t have the same amount of chatter as others. Parents in general need validation. Especially as we navigate the crazy years of 10-18!
2. Where does your blogging inspiration come from?
Parenting my own kids. Reading, I love to read. I read books, blogs, magazines. Other parents around me.
3. Can you give 11 random facts about yourself?
I am left handed
I can touch my tongue to my nose
I LOVE to sing (hubby says I make everything sound like I am in an opera)
I have a terrible memory (except when it comes to songs)
I love to travel
I met hubby in college
Sometimes I still wonder when my kids parents are coming to pick them up (longest babysitting job EVER!)
I am deathly afraid of grates on the sidewalk (I just know I am going to fall in)
I teach at a Community College
I work at a non-profit
I save all my phone pictures to Shutterfly (I just know that one day my phone will erase them all)
4. What was your biggest accomplishment of 2014?
Helping to get the non-profit that I work for really going. We had already been established as ministry partner but broke off as our own non-profit and 2014 was our first year of being independent and we succeeded!
5. What is it you love most about blogging?
I am a talker so this is a way for me to talk. Also I have met so many wonderful bloggers. I have tried really hard to connect through different blogging resources and I love making those friendships.
6. If you had 3 wishes, what would they be?
I wish hubby and I could take our kids on a couple of awesome vacations before they leave the house. (We have been on 2 but there are so many places in this world!)
I wish there were more time in the day. (I always feel like I haven’t accomplished everything I wanted to before bed.)
I wish everyone could just all get along.
7. What is one country in the world you would like to visit? Why?
I have actually traveled to a number of countries in my life but the one place that is definitely on my bucket list is Australia. I mean does it need an explanation???
8. What are you currently watching or reading?
Hubby and I came to the conclusion that any show I watch and love will be cancelled. Just today The Mindy Project (goner), Parenthood (adios), just holding out for them to say oh no more 19 Kids and Counting. I am reading Nobody’s Cuter Than You by Melanie Shankle. She has 3 books and I recommend them all!!
9. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
You know honestly I am happy where I am now. But maybe on a lake somewhere, that is my ultimate dream house.
10. What is something you do when you need to take time for yourself?
Get a pedicure. If I have no money, I take a long bath. I also just stick my nose in a book then I am lost in another world!
11. Where do you see yourself in 20 years time?
It sounds so far away. But in reality will be here in the blink of an eye. In 20 years I hope to be close to retirement and a grandma!
